A child begins learning far before their first day of school — from the people who feed them, talk to them, read to them, and show them what it looks like to navigate the world. Family is the first classroom. This National Family Day, ILMS takes a moment to acknowledge the work parents and families do to build their child's potential at school and beyond!

In our experience as educators, family engagement in a child's education is one of the most significant factors in academic outcomes across grade levels, subjects, and school systems. What should this engagement look like? The most powerful family involvement isn't hovering over homework or demanding high grades. It's asking genuine questions, showing curiosity about what your child is learning, and communicating to them the importance of education — why exactly it matters.

At ILMS, we think of families as our partners in education. The work we do with students in tutoring sessions is most effective when it's supported by a home environment that takes learning seriously and sees tutoring as a shared investment in a child's future. Sometimes the most powerful thing a parent can say is, simply and sincerely, "I believe you can figure this out."

On National Family Day, we're grateful for every ILMS family that is truly invested in their child's education. We're privileged to be a part of your learning journey!
